Fill the Gap Fund: Helping FCPS Families Through an Urgent Need

Beginning November 1, more than 9,500 Fayette County Public Schools students will lose access to SNAP benefits—the vital food assistance that helps families meet basic needs.

In response, the Fayette Education Foundation has launched the Fill the Gap Fund, a rapid-response initiative that allows community members to directly support students and families affected by these cuts.

Funds are managed by the Foundation, which operates independently from Fayette County Public Schools, ensuring that donations are distributed quickly and transparently. Working alongside each school’s Family Resource Center and trusted community partners, the Foundation ensures that donations go directly to families for food, household essentials, and other urgent needs.

“When families struggle to meet basic needs, students struggle to learn,” said Carrie Boling, Executive Director of the Fayette Education Foundation. “This fund allows our community to act quickly and compassionately to support our kids.”

Donors may choose to give to the overall fund or direct their gift to a specific school or ZIP code, ensuring support reaches families in their own neighborhoods.

Together, we can help every child come to school nourished, focused, and ready to learn.
