FEF Official Statement Regarding Budget-Related Staffing Reductions and Contract Changes
April 28, 2026 – The Fayette Education Foundation (FEF) stands with the students, educators, staff, and families of Fayette County Public Schools as our community processes the difficult realities of recent budget-related staffing reductions and contract changes.
We know these decisions carry real consequences beyond numbers on a spreadsheet. Behind every position affected and every reduced workday is a person, a family, and a classroom community. For many, this moment brings uncertainty, stress, and difficult questions about what comes next. Our hearts are with those directly impacted and with the school communities navigating this transition.
As an independent nonprofit and partner to public education in Fayette County, FEF remains committed to supporting the people and programs that make our schools strong. While we cannot fill systemwide funding gaps or undo difficult financial decisions, we can continue to invest where it matters most: in classrooms, in opportunities for students, and in the educators and staff who show up every day to serve them.
Public education is built on people. Teachers, support staff, school leaders, and families are the foundation of student success, and their work matters deeply to the strength of our community.
In moments like this, partnership matters more than ever. We encourage our business leaders, community partners, and neighbors to continue showing up for our schools and the people who make them work. Supporting public education is not the responsibility of one system alone—it is a shared community investment in our future.
Education is everyone’s business, and now is the time to stand together for our students and for those who serve them.
